‘3 pounds is nothing stop crying’: Ryan Garcia, pros react to Garcia missing weight for Devin Haney showdown

Ryan Garcia put his money where his mouth is and paid for it.

Ahead of his fight with rival Devin Haney this Saturday, the boxing star missed weight by three pounds for what was to be a 140-pound title bout. As it stands, the bout is expected to proceed as scheduled, with Garcia ineligible to win Haney’s WBC belt.

Most galling about Garcia’s weigh-in miss is that he had agreed to a costly wager with Haney at this past Thursday’s press conference to hype their bout. Garcia and Haney shook hands on a deal that would see the offending fighter pay pay the other $500,000 per pound if they came in over the limit. That comes out to a $1.5 million bill for Garcia, assuming he pays Haney every penny.

The fighting community was definitely put on alert by the news. Check out the reactions from social media below.
