Alex Pereira Reacts to UFC 321 Headliner, Jon Jones Responds to ‘Poatan’

The UFC 321 main event was a letdown for everyone involved, but Alex Pereira has an idea on how to bring a spark back to the heavyweight division.

The title bout on Saturday between Tom Aspinall and Ciryl Gane in Abu Dhabi ended prematurely when Aspinall was unable to continue at the 4:35 mark of Round 1 due to an accidental eye poke from his opponent. As a result, Aspinall’s first fight since July 2024 was declared a no contest.

UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira posted a video of himself watching Saturday’s main event. When the fight is waved off, “Poatan” is seen shaking his head and chuckling at the outcome.

In the accompanying caption, Pereira writes, “Let’s make the heavyweight division great again,” while also including emojis indicating his ongoing interest in a fight against Jon Jones at the UFC’s White House event. After stopping Magomed Ankalaev in the UFC 320 main event, Pereira also stated that he was interested in moving up for a heavyweight super fight against Jones.

Jones to Pereira: ‘Let’s Dance’

Jones, who was long the object of Aspinall’s frustration before vacating the heavyweight crown earlier this year, did not address the Brit directly following UFC 321. Instead, “Bones” responded to Pereira’s callout.

“Alex, I’d be down to bring the highest skill level to the White House,” Jones wrote on X. “I appreciate the respect you showed, let’s dance.”

Jones didn’t totally ignore Aspinall, however. In his Twitter profile photo, he added an eye patch to the duck that has been his picture since Aspinall accused “Bones” of “ducking” a fight against him.

The UFC’s White House card is expected to take place on June 14, according to a recent announcement from President Donald Trump. UFC CEO Dana White has previously stated that bouts won’t start coming together for the event until next year.
