The lineup for UFC Perth is continuing to grow with the addition of three new bouts.
The Las Vegas-based promotion recently announced the following bookings for the Sept. 27 event: Neil Magny vs. Jake Matthews at welterweight; Oban Elliott vs. Jonathan Micallef at welterweight and Jack Jenkins vs. Ramon Taveras at featherweight. Also known as UFC Fight Night 260, the event takes place at RAC Arena in Perth, Australia, and is headlined by a light heavyweight showdown between Carlos Ulberg and Dominick Reyes.
Magny, the promotion’s all-time leader in welterweight appearances (35) and wins (23), snapped a two-bout skid in his last outing, when he defeated Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos via second-round TKO at UFC on ESPN 71 on Aug. 2. “The Haitian Sensation” owns notable wins over the likes of Geoff Neal, Robbie Lawler, Carlos Condit, Johnny Hendricks, Hector Lombard, Kelvin Gastelum and Tim Means, among others.
Matthews, meanwhile, made his UFC debut in 2014 and has 22 Octagon appearances to his credit. The 31-year-old Aussie is in the midst of a three-bout winning streak, including a first-round submission of Chidi Njokuani in his most recent outing at UFC on ESPN 70.
Two Aussie Prospects Set to Compete in Perth
Wales’ Elliott had an eight-fight professional winning streak snapped at UFC on ABC 8, where he dropped a unanimous verdict to Seok Hyeon Ko on June 21. Elliott had been victorious in his first three Octagon appearances.
A native of Melbourne, Australia, Micallef earned a promotional deal on Dana White’s Contender Series in October and then outpointed Kevin Jousset in his debut at UFC 312 on Feb. 8.
Jenkins, who also hails from Melbourne, is 3-2 in UFC competition. Most recently, the 32-year-old suffered a third-round submission defeat to Gabriel Santos at UFC 312.
Taveras, meanwhile, has split a pair of fights in the promotion, taking a split verdict over Serhiy Sidey in his debut at UFC 297 before dropping a unanimous decision against Davey Grant at UFC on ESPN 63 this past December.
