Andre Muniz injured, out of UFC Vegas 93 fight with Ikram Aliskerov

Ikram Aliskerov needs a new opponent for UFC Vegas 93 after Andre Muniz suffered a foot fracture in training, MMA Fighting confirmed Thursday following a report by Laerte Viana.

Muniz is expected to undergo surgery for the injury.

UFC Vegas 93 takes place June 15 at the UFC APEX and features flyweights Alex Perez and Tatsuro Taira in a five-round main event. Muniz vs. Aliskerov was expected to co-headline the show.

It is unclear if UFC will find another opponent for Aliskerov, who won both of his UFC bouts thus far with first-round knockouts of TUF Brazil winner Warlley Alves and Phil Hawes.

The news marks the fourth time Aliskerov has had a fight cancelled in the promotion. The 31-year-old Russian was paired up against Paulo Costa, Nassourdine Imavov, Anthony Hernandez, and now Muniz, all of which never came to fruition due to different reasons.

Muniz returned to the winning column in his most recent outing with a split decision over Jun Yong Park after consecutive stoppage losses to Brendan Allen and Paul Craig. That skid snapped a five-fight win streak over Uriah Hall, Eryk Anders, Ronaldo Souza, and more.
