Anthony Smith steps in to face Jimmy Crute in April after Johnny Walker forced out of UFC 260 due to injury

Former title contender Anthony Smith has agreed to face Jimmy Crute at a future UFC event on April 24 after Johnny Walker suffered a torn pectoral muscle in training that forced him out of the originally scheduled fight at UFC 260.

Multiple sources close to the situation confirmed the news to MMA Fighting on Tuesday following an initial report from ESPN.

Smith had previously addressed a potential fight against Crute after he dispatched Devin Clark by triangle choke this past November. While the matchup didn’t come together initially, Smith will now get the chance to face Crute in April instead.

As for Crute, he will look to build on a recent two-fight win streak of his own as he continues to climb up the light heavyweight rankings. At 24, Crute is one of the youngest fighters in the mix at 205 pounds and he’ll look to pick up arguably the biggest win of his career when he faces Smith in March.

The UFC event on April 24 does not have a location yet and the promotion has not made any official announcements about the card.
