While Tsarukyan (23-3) has long been the top UFC lightweight contender, he has yet again been deprived of a title shot. As champion Ilia Topuria takes a hiatus, Paddy Pimblett will fight Justin Gaethje for the interim lightweight title at UFC 3244 on Jan. 24 in Las Vegas.

Tsarukyan has offered to help Gaethje prepare for his fight against Pimblett because he wants “The Baddy” to lose. “Ahalkalakets” hopes Gaethje (26-5) will be disciplined and completely dedicate himself to training. Tsarukyan notes that this is likely the last opportunity in Gaethje’s career for another title run.
Last Chance for Glory
“Justin, if you need help, let me know. I’ll fly to you and help you,” Tsarukyan told ESPN. “I want him to win. That bulls—t guy [Pimblett], I hate him. But I hope Justin Gaethje not gonna drink, party. Gonna train, dedicate himself, be focused. It’s his last chance in this life. He was fighting for the title maybe five [two] times. So this is his chance at the end of his career. Win the interim title, fight for the real title and then retire.”
Despite Tsarukyan being the clear No.1 contender, Ilia Topuria called out Pimblett (23-3) after winning the vacant title earlier this year. Meanwhile, Tsarukyan hoped to secure a title shot by beating Dan Hooker at UFC Qatar earlier this month. When the interim title fight was announced, Pimblett didn’t miss the opportunity to mock Tsarukyan.
