Arman Tsarukyan has his first fight set since breaking into the top-15 of the UFC’s lightweight division.
Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that the 24-year-old Tsarukyan will face Christos Giagos at the UFC’s event on Sept. 18, which is expected to take place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas. MMA Junkie was first to report the booking.
After dropping a unanimous decision to Islam Makhachev in his promotional debut, Tsarukyan has won his last three fights. “Ahalkalakets” earned unanimous decision wins over Olivier Aubin-Mercier, Davi Ramos and Matt Frevola to earn a ranking spot in one of the UFC’s most loaded divisions.
Giagos will look to make it three straight victories and has quietly won four of his last five. Following a unanimous decision loss to Drakkar Klose at UFC 241, “The Spartan” picked up back-to-back wins; a unanimous decision over Carlton Minus and a second-round submission of Sean Soriano at UFC 262 in May.
