Bellator 228 Update: Bantamweights Leandro Higo, Shawn Bunch to Clash on Sept. 28

A bantamweight showdown between Leandro Higo and Shawn Bunch has been added to the Bellator 228 lineup.

Sherdog.com confirmed the booking with a promotion official following an initial report from MMAFighting.com. Bellator 228 takes place at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif., on Sept. 28 and features a featherweight title tilt between Patricio Freire and Juan Archuleta, which is also part of the promotion’s 145-pound grand prix.

A former Legacy Fighting Alliance champion, Higo has lost three of his four appearances in the California-based promotion. He last competed in September 2018, when he suffered a first-round technical knockout loss to Aaron Pico at Bellator 206.

Bunch, meanwhile, is currently on a five-fight winning streak. During that run, the 36-year-old has garnered triumphs over Joe Warren and Dominic Mazzotta in the Bellator cage.
