Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight Bo Nickal (7-1) saw the announced matchups for UFC 322—two title fights and a high-stakes welterweight affair—and asked on social media for a spot on the prelims. According to ESPN Brasil on Wednesday night, his wish has been granted and he will be facing Rodolfo Vieira (11-3) on Nov. 15. The two will 185-pounders will square off inside of Madison Square Garden in New York.

Brazil’s Vieira has earned all but one of his pro victories inside the distance, with that decision coming in his last bout against Tresean Gore. After just nine walks to the Octagon, “The Black Belt Hunter” has placed himself in a top-three tie for the most submissions in UFC middleweight history with five. Brendan Allen’s six and Gerald Meerschaert’s 11 hold the top two spots.
From Wrestling to MMA to Wrestling to MMA
This past Saturday, Nickal returned after a four-year absence from a singlet to wrestle in the inaugural Real American Freestyle event created by the late Hulk Hogan. In his 205-pound encounter with Jacob Cardenas—an NCAA All-American at 197 pounds in graduate school at Michigan—he outworked his opponent with a score of 6-4 to claim the inaugural title.
That wrestling match marked a brief departure from his travels in MMA, with his last time out Nickal suffered his first defeat as a pro. When he went up against Reinier de Ridder, the Dutchman finished him with a knee to the body to set Nickal’s unbeaten record up in smoke. Before then, the ex-Penn State wrestling juggernaut had finished his foe in his first six fights, and he needed the full 15 minutes to beat Paul Craig towards the end of 2024.
