Brad Tavares will return to the Octagon for the first time in over a year when he takes on Ian Heinisch in Singapore this October.
According to ESPN on Thursday, Tavares (17-5) will contend with Heinisch (13-2) at UFC Fight Night 162, which will take place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore.
Tavares last fought back at “The Ultimate Fighter: Season 27” Finale in July 2018, dropping a decision to current interim middleweight champ Israel Adesanya. Sustaining a broken arm in that contest, Tavares has been recovering since then. That loss snapped a four-fight win streak for Tavares, which included victories over Caio Magalhaes, Elias Theodorou, Thales Leites and Krzysztof Jotko. Despite his absence, Tavares is currently ranked #11 at middleweight in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s official rankings.
Heinisch is looking to return to the win column after losing for the first time inside the Octagon. At UFC 241, Heinisch dropped a decision to Derek Brunson. Prior to the loss, he beat Cezar Ferreira and Antonio Carlos Jr. on the scorecards in his previous two trips to the UFC cage. The UFC’s #10 middleweight, he resides on the bubble of Sherdog’s official rankings.
UFC Fight Night 162 goes down on Oct. 26 in Singapore, and will be headlined by a welterweight bout between Ben Askren vs. Demian Maia.
