Brendan Allen to face unranked opponent at UFC Fight Night 278 on June 6

Brendan Allen will get something of an unexpected matchup for his next Octagon appearance.

“All In” will square off against Edmen Shahbazyan in a middleweight bout at UFC Fight Night 278on June 6 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Allen confirmed the pairing on social media following an initial report from Marcel Dorff. UFC Fight Night 278 is headlined by a welterweight duel pitting ex-champ Belal Muhammad against Gabriel Bonfim.

Chance to Make a Statement

Allen is coming off a short-notice fourth-round TKO win over Reinier de Ridder in the UFC Vancouver main event this past October. Allen is 14-3 during his tenure with the Las Vegas-based promotion and owns other notable triumphs against the likes of Marvin Vettori, Chris Curtis and Kevin Holland, among others.

Shahbazyan enters the clash with Allen on a three-bout winning streak. In his most recent appearance, “The Golden Boy” scored a first-round knockout of Muniz at UFC 320 this past October. Shahbazyan has also bested Andre Petroski and Dylan Budka during his current run.
