Bruno Silva is out of UFC 313.
On Monday, MMA Fighting confirmed that Silva is out of his scheduled flyweight bout against Joshua Van at next month’s pay-per-view. Instead, undefeated prospect Rei Tsuruya steps in against Van. Marcel Dorff was the first to report the news.
Currently ranked No. 15 in the UFC flyweight rankings, Van (12-2) had an active 2024, competing four times and picking up three wins. Most recently, the 23-year-old prospect won a unanimous decision over Cody Durden at UFC 310 in December.
Tsuruya (10-0) was the flyweight winner of Road to UFC Season 2 and made a successful UFC debut last year with a unanimous decision win over Carlos Hernandez at UFC 303. The 22-year-old prospect was supposed to face Stewart Nicoll earlier this month at UFC 312 until the bout was cancelled due to a Nicoll injury.
UFC 313 takes place on March 8 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The event is headlined by a light heavyweight title fight between Alex Pereira and Magomed Ankalaev and features a five-round lightweight battle between Justin Gaethje and Dan Hooker in the co-main event.
