Bryan Battle believes the Professional Fighters League has some of the best fighters in his weight class.
Despite a 7-1 UFC record, Battle was promptly released from the promotion last month after missing weight by four pounds for a scheduled middleweight bout against Nursulton Ruziboev at UFC 319, leading to the cancellation of the bout. This was Battle’s second consecutive weight miss after he missed weight for a split-decision win over Randy Brown last year, which influenced the move to middleweight.

Battle quickly found a new home in Mike Perry’s Dirty Boxing, where he finished Derik De Freitas in the first round in his debut last month. Battle signed up with the PFL soon after and is set to compete in their $500,000 middleweight tournament in 2026.
Battle: No Politics in PFL
Battle isn’t making the mistake of considering the PFL a “B-league” compared to the UFC. “The Butcher” believes the PFL roster has some of the best middleweights in the world. “The Ultimate Fighter “Season 29 winner also likes the PFL tournament format, where one can skip the “politics” and only has to win fights to earn the prize.
“Middleweight might be their deepest division,” Battle told Home of Fight. “People trying to say, ‘B-league, this that and the other.’ I think if you go into the PFL with that attitude, you’re getting ass whooped. I’m excited, there’s some really really high level guys that I can test myself against. If you go out there and win the PFL tournament, you’re one of the best middleweights on the planet… I love the fact that there’s no politics. You go out there, all you gotta do is win. If you win and you keep on winning then you get the f—-ing prize.”
