Caio Borralho Willing to Face Bo Nickal at UFC White House ‘For Half the Purse’

If it were up to Caio Borralho, his Fighting Nerds teammate would receive the next welterweight title shot.

Appointed by Carlos Prates as his main training partner in the fight with Leon Edwards at UFC 322, Borralho discussed on his friend’s impressive victory on the weekly podcast of the Brazilian channel Sexto Round.

“He followed the tactical plan masterfully and knocked out a former champion who had never been knocked out. For this feat and for all the entertainment it brings, in my opinion, he deserved the title shot next,” Borralho said. “There’s already a whole narrative after Islam said he saw Prates eating Nutella on weigh-in day. Prates smokes, eats Nutella. It would be the guy who does everything right against the guy who does everything wrong. And this type of narrative entertains the public and sells fights.”

If the UFC instead elects to book a potential title eliminator between Prates and Michael Morales, Borralho has confidence that his training partner will emerge victorious.

“Personally, I’d love for Prates and Morales to match up, if the UFC wants,” Borralho said. “Technically, striking Prates is a bad matchup for Morales. His best chance would be to try and impose himself physically against Prates.”

All the Pressure Was on Nickal

Caio also spoke about Rodolfo Vieira‘s defeat to Bo Nickal at UFC 322.

“[I don’t want] to take away from Nickal’s merit, but Rodolfo entered this fight apathetically, and he fights well when he’s under pressure. Look at the great fight he had against Tresean Gore. All the pressure was on Nickal,” Borralho said.

Borralho would be more than willing to face Nickal on the most highly-anticipated fight card of 2026 if offered.

“Right away, if the UFC offers me Bo Nickal in the White House, I would fight for half the purse,” said the Brazilian, explaining why he considers both Nickal and Renier de Ridder to be excellent matchups for him.

“These fighters are excellent in their disciplines, but they don’t yet have the level of a solid top 10 MMA fighter. “

However, neither of these options are Borralho’s primary preference of opponent.

“If I could choose, it would be Robert Whitaker,” he said. “It could be in Australia, in his backyard, or wherever he wants.”
