Calvin Kattar was fighting at a dimished capacity for much of his UFC Nashville bout against Steve Garcia.
The Massachusetts native broke his foot in the opening stanza and went on to suffer a lopsided unanimous decision defeat to the Jackson-Wink MMA product in their featured featherweight bout at the Bridgestone Arena on Saturday night. Kattar recently reacted to the loss in a statement on social media.
Kattar Broke Foot in Two Places
“Thankful for my family, team and those that came out or tuned in to the fight,” Kattar wrote on Instagram. “Pushed through a lot just to get to the fight and even more when it started. Broke my foot in the first round in two places but content that I was able to make it through to the end even though came up short. Congrats to my opponent on top 15, well earned. Time for some recovery.”
While Kattar didn’t get the victory, he did end Garcia’s finishing streak at five. “The Boston Finisher” has lost five consecutive Octagon appearances dating back to June 2022, falling to the likes of Josh Emmett, Arnold Allen, Aljamain Sterling and Youssef Zalal.
