Charles Jourdain (17-8) believes visualization can do wonders when paired with hard work.

Jourdain faced Davey Grant (17-8) in front of a home crowd at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, on Saturday. “Air” dropped Grant with a brutal flying knee before locking in a guillotine to secure a finish in the very first round. Jourdain walked away with a $50,000 “Performance of the Night” bonus for his electrifying win.

Jourdain later revealed that he had been visualizing landing a flying knee on Grant at UFC Vancouver. The Canadian also claims to have footage of him drilling that exact highlight-reel shot. When Jourdain heard Grant’s corner calling for more pressure, he was already planning to draw in his opponent for the kill. While Jourdain believes in visualization, he also emphasizes the significance of hard work to realize one’s goals.

Concocting the Potion of Madness

“I have been reading those books about visualization,” Jourdain told Full Send MMA. “Some people might consider it gibberish but I truly did so much exercise of visualizing him going with the hooks and that knee straight down the middle. You know those TikToks where you see a guy drill and then it happens. I can do that. We were drilling that flying knee all the time, drawing him in as a lefty. Making him feel like, ‘Oh man, that’s too much pressure.’ And then, pop! Because all my weight is on that leg and I’m ready to go in. And I was prepared and I keep hearing his coach, ‘Pressure.’ And I was concocting the potion of madness that was that flying knee. So visualization works, but it’s not only thinking about it, it’s all the work we put in.”

Jourdain is 2-2 in his last four and riding a two-fight winning streak. The 29-year-old submitted Victor Henry with a guillotine in his last outing in November 2024.
