Charles Oliveira out of UFC fight with Beneil Dariush

Beneil Dariush needs a new opponent for UFC’s upcoming card on Oct. 3 after Charles Oliveira withdrew from the lightweight match, Dariush announced Monday on social media.

Sources close to Oliveira told MMA Fighting he will no longer compete due to “personal reasons,” but should be ready to fight again by November or December. Oliveira declined to comment.

Oliveira (29-8, 1 no contest) is on a seven-fight finishing streak in the UFC dating back to 2018, a run that includes submissions over Kevin Lee, Jim Miller and Clay Guida. “Do Bronx” pocketed a post-fight bonus in five of those victories.

Dariush (19-4-1) is looking for his sixth straight victory in the octagon after defeating Thiago Moises, Drew Dober, Frank Camacho, Drakkar Klose and Scott Holtzman between Nov. 2018 and Aug. 2020.

In a social media post, Dariush said he is “currently working with the UFC to figure out out next step.”
