Padilla (17-6) took on Ismael Bonfim at UFC Vegas 111 on Saturday in Las Vegas. “Taco” didn’t hesitate to accept the fight despite Bonfim (20-6) missing the lightweight limit by a whopping 5 pounds. While Bonfim came out all guns blazing, Padilla kept a strong guard and kept working with precision to earn a second-round technical knockout. Padilla desperately called for a bonus after his performance to help his mother, who currently lives in a trailer.

“Dana, Sean, Mick, my mom lives in a trailer right now,” Padlla said in his post-fight interview. “I need that [$50,000] so I can help my mama, man. I don’t really care about my performance. I love it, but those are the important things right now.”
Padilla’s voice cracked, and his eyes teared up as he explained the call for a bonus in his post-fight interview. The 30-year-old says nothing hurts him as much as watching his mother struggle. Grateful and hungry, Padilla is ready to face anything that comes his way.
‘I’ll Sacrifice Anything for Them’
“I’m gonna go over just a little bit. Because that topic hurts me every time,” Padilla said at a post-fight media scrum. “I’ll sacrifice anything for them, any day. I love those people. My mom’s given me everything growing up. So I’m willing to die out there for her. Everything that hurts on me, doesn’t hurt as much as seeing my mom struggle. I’m grateful, grateful, grateful. God is good bro. So grateful to come out, f—ing put my heart and soul, my blood. My spirit’s burning, my heart’s pumping, and my lungs — they’re breathing deep.”
Despite his desperate call, Padilla failed to earn a bonus in a main card where every fight was finished. Padilla is unbeaten in four UFC outings with three finishes.
