Conor McGregor’s legal issues have cost him at least one business opportunity.
The UFC star was recently found liable for a 2018 sexual assault, in which he was accused of forcing the victim Nikita Hand to have sex with him against her will, which resulted in Hand suffering numerous injuries. A High Court jury in Dublin, Ireland, ruled in favor of Hand and McGregor must now pay her over $250,000 in damages.
McGregor continues to vehemently deny Hand’s claims, tweeting (and deleting) a statement in which he said he would appeal the verdict. That matters little to video game developer IO Interactive, who announced Monday that all McGregor content will be removed from its Hitman: World of Assassination release.

“In light of the recent court ruling regarding Conor McGregor, IO Interactive has made the decision to cease its collaboration with the athlete, effective immediately,” the company wrote. “We take this matter very seriously and cannot ignore its implications. Consequently, we will begin removing all content featuring Mr. McGregor from our storefronts starting today.”
In the game, McGregor’s likeness was used for the character of The Disruptor, a martial arts star that becomes a target of the Hitman franchise’s protagonist, Agent 47.

One of the most successful athletes in combat sports history, McGregor has numerous sponsorships and public business relationships tied to his name, including UFC and a part-ownership of BKFC. The former two-division champion has not fought since breaking his leg in a trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier in July 2021.
