Dana White Admits He and Justin Gaethje ‘Need to Get on the Same Page’

Justin Gaethje has been the odd man out with the recent return of Conor McGregor.

The Elevation Fight Team product voiced his displeasure about potentially being passed over for a UFC lightweight title shot in favor of the Irish star. Before McGregor defeated Donald Cerrone via 40-second TKO in their welterweight weight headliner, UFC president Dana White hinted that the SBG Ireland representative would get a rematch with Nurmagomedov with a victory over “Cowboy.” Gaethje, in turn, called that notion a “crock of s—t.”

During Saturday’s post-fight press conference, White still seemed more interested in making Nurmagomedov-McGregor 2 than pitting the former two-division champion against any other potential opponent at 170 or 155 pounds.

However, he also acknowledged that he needs to have sitdown with Gaethje, who has been left in limbo despite successive first-round finishes of James Vick, Edson Barboza and Cerrone.

“There’s been all this ‘What about Justin Gaethje stuff.’ The reality is me and Justin Gaethje need to sit down and talk face to face and have a meeting,” White said. “I’ll probably do that in the next few weeks and sit down with him.

“I like Gaethje. Gaethje’s a great kid and a super talented guy. He and I need to get on the same page.”
