Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone has been tasked with welcoming Conor McGregor back to the Octagon at UFC 246, and UFC president Dana White believes the disrespect shown towards Cerrone ahead of the matchup has been “unbelievable.”

The narrative going around the mixed martial arts (MMA) realm is that the UFC is attempting to give McGregor an easy matchup to return to winning form. However, Cerrone is anything but an easy fight for anyone. White said as much during a recent interview with ESPN’s Brett Okamoto. (H/T MMA Mania)

”We’re getting through this one first, we’re getting through the Cowboy fight,” White said. “And the level of disrespect shown to Cowboy through this whole thing? Apparently people forgot that Cowboy’s lost two in a row before and come back and gone on unbelievable runs. Let’s not count Cowboy out.”

UFC 246 goes down live on pay-per-view (PPV) from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 18. It’s going to be a very entertaining bout when two of the UFC’s most game strikers stand in the middle of the Octagon and go to work.

Do you agree with White that the level of disrespect shown to Cerrone has been unbelievable?
