Eryk Anders Declares ‘I’m Back’ After Working With Hypnotist

Eryk Anders suffered a lopsided unanimous decision loss to the newly improved Khalil Rountree in April. Afterward, the Ultimate Fighting Championship light heavyweight mixed martial artist was swiftly placed back on the docket to replace Roman Dolidze in his June 29 bout with Vinicius Moreira.

Anders is no stranger to quick turnarounds in the UFC, having fought in both August and September of 2018. “That’s just kind of my role now. So, they call, I answer, and we get it,” Anders told James Lynch of The Score MMA.

With two months-and-change to regroup for his new fight, Anders revealed that he sought first to address some mental weaknesses before tackling any physical shortcomings. Anders explains that what failed him most in his clash against Rountree was his mind. “Obviously he came out on fire but I think the combination of the way he fought and the way I was feeling that day. I really don’t know how to explain it, just kind of foggy. Really wasn’t feeling like fighting.”

After listening to Rountree’s appearance on the Joe Rogan podcast, “Ya Boy” learned that his opponent had implemented the aid of a hypnotist, so Anders followed suit. “I think I’m back,” reveals Anders. “Man, my energy level is really high. My mental clarity and focus is really good, probably the best it’s ever been.”

For Anders, the work with a hypnotist has allowed him to focus just as hard on visual training as physical training, an advantage he feels will pay dividends when he meets Moreira at UFC on ESPN 3: Ngannou vs. Dos Santos in Minneapolis on June 29.
