Ex-UFC Title Holder Teases Power Slap Move

To go from being a UFC champion to competing in a Power Slap match is quite a contrast.

Luke Rockhold is seemingly considering a move to Dana White’s controversial Power Slap, league. The contest has been widely criticized for leaving athletes vulnerable to CTE, as they basically take headshots with no chance to defend themselves.

Rockhold recently suffered a 12-0 loss in a wrestling match against Colby Covington at RAF 5. Rockhold subsequently hinted that he is parting ways with RAF, which has recently brought wrestling to the limelight. The former Strikeforce and UFC middleweight champion also hinted that he might try his hand at Power Slap next.

On to the Next One?

“Compete, challenge myself, get in shape, learn a new sport, and get paid with no risk,” Rockhold wrote on social media. “Lost a few points but had a good time. Happy to see wrestling make it to the big stage. Power slap, see you soon.”

Rockhold (16-6) lost his UFC middleweight title to Michael Bisping in 2016. Rockhold initially retired after fighting just three more times in the UFC. However, Rockhold returned to action against Paulo Costa in 2022 and finally hung up his MMA gloves after suffering a unanimous decision loss. Rockhold has since won a Karate Combat match against Joe Schilling, while losing a bare-knuckle boxing match against Mike Perry, a boxing match against Darren Till and wrestling matches against Pat Downey and Covington.
