Rising lightweight talent Fares Ziam won’t be competing at UFC Paris as originally anticipated.
The 28-year-old Frenchman announced via social media that he has withdrawn from Saturday’s event due to the death of his grandmother. Ziam was scheduled to face Kaue Fernandes on the main card.

“Following the sudden death of my grandmother, and the organization of her funeral in France and abroad, I regret having to cancel my participation in UFC Paris on Sept. 6,” Ziam wrote on Instagram (via Google Translate).
“Family is a priority for me.”
Ziam Has Won Five Straight UFC Bouts
Ziam has won his last five appearances within the Las Vegas-based promotion. The Kill Cliff FC representative is coming off a unanimous decision triumph against Mike Davis at UFC Fight Night 250 on Feb. 1. “Smile Killer” is 7-2 during his UFC tenure overall.
UFC Paris — also known as UFC Fight Night 258 — takes place at Accor Arena in Paris, France, and is headlined by a middleweight showdown between Nassourdine Imavov and Caio Borralho. The card airs in its entirety on ESPN+ beginning at noon ET/9 a.m. PT.
