On Friday morning, Irish outlets including the Irish Times reported that McGregor’s Black Forge Inn pub in Dublin may have been deliberately lit on fire. The pub suffered minor damage in the front of the establishment after police and fire teams put out the flames and made certain no one was injured. The Gardia is currently looking into whether criminal activity was afoot.

This would not be the first time that the Black Forge Inn had been subject to attacks, as a failed 2022 bombing was only thwarted because the explosive failed to detonate. According to the Irish Times, a staff member of the pub stated the fire was electrical in nature, possibly due to a faulty wire or other potentially harmful connections. After the fire was put out, which took place roughly 3 a.m. local time, police were on the scene to investigate.
McGregor Confident His Pub Will Stay Open Come Rain or Shine
In a since-deleted post on social media captured by the Irish Times, McGregor pointed out that, “The pub is open for business today, folks. You wouldn’t get through it with a rocket launcher. She’s spotless. Up the forge. Built different baby.”
The Irishman did leave up posts and shorts in his Instagram Stories section on his profile declaring that the Black Forge Inn is “Always Open For Business” and that the establishment is “Unbeatable.” It currently remains open, despite the minor fire damage.
McGregor, 37, has not set foot in the cage since a pair of knockout losses to Dustin Poirier in 2021. “Notorious” has gone on to become a part owner of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, promising that once his UFC deal is out, he will compete under its confines without gloves. McGregor was last targeted to take on Michael Chandler in a grudge match that would conclude “The Ultimate Fighter: Season 31” with its coach vs. coach battle. That bout fell to the wayside due to a broken toe for McGregor, and Chandler moved on to face Charles Oliveira again.
The former two-division champ has maintained attention in part due to multiple criminal investigations into his own conduct—wholly unrelated to the fire set at Black Forge Inn—ranging from alleged sexual assault to perjury during testimony to reckless driving resulting in his receipt of a lengthy driving ban. Most recently, McGregor made headlines for allegedly sending nude photos of himself to rapper Azealia Banks.
