For Bellator Newcomer Patrick Mix, Fighting at Madison Square Garden is ‘Everything’

Undefeated prospect Patrick Mix is set to make his Bellator MMA debut this Friday against Ricky Bandejas. For “Patchy” to not only finally get the call to a major promotion, but to fight at Madison Square Garden, is a dream come true.

“I actually heard from my manager, Ali Abdelaziz,” Mix said to Sherdog.com. “Just fighting on the regional scene and having this extended contract with King of the Cage for so long. When Bellator called it was really exciting for me. Madison Square Garden is everything. I’m from Buffalo, N.Y. I’ve watched so many sporting events there, it was always a dream to fight there. Everything worked out perfectly to now get the opportunity to fight there.”

Although fighting at the venue is exciting, Mix is more worried about his fight against Bandejas. He understands the challenge.

“Anything can happen in a fight but you know I’m looking forward to going out there and letting all my skills out,” he said. “I’m going for a win and make a statement in my debut.”

If he does just that, Mix believes he could already be one win away from a title shot. And if Darrion Caldwell remains champion, Mix is quite confident in his abilities to capture Bellator gold.

“I’m a kryptonite for Darrion Caldwell. I can submit anyone in the world,” Mix concluded. “I train with the bets fighters in the world and I think I am on the same level on the ground. I can match his pace. A lot of my skills people haven’t seen.”
