‘Gotta be staged’: Fans react to Chito Vera pulling out shotgun to stop alleged robbery attempt

Marlon Vera found an interesting way to make some waves during UFC 313 fight week.

In a viral video released Friday morning, “Chito” was seen working on his red truck when a man came up on him holding a knife in his driveway in an alleged robbery attempt. The UFC bantamweight fighter then dove into his vehicle to pull out a shotgun and the alleged robber quickly changed directions and left his property.

Many fans quickly went on X to say the event was staged, and according to MMA Fighting’s Mike Heck, it was indeed too good to be true. The video was a “skit,” according a person close to the situation.

Vera, who has lost three of his past four fights, was last seen in the Octagon against Deiveson Figueiredo this past August where he lost via unanimous decision.

Vera is scheduled to face Mario Bautista at UFC Des Moines on May 3.
