Hagiwara vs. Akimoto, Several Other Bouts Announced for Rizin ‘Landmark Vol. 12’

Kyohei Hagiwara will square off against Kyoma Akimoto in a featured featherweight bout at Rizin “Landmark Vol. 12” on Nov. 3.

The Japanese promotion recently announced a handful of bouts for the event, which takes place at Glion Arena Kobe in Kobe, Japan. Three other MMA contests were also confirmed: Taichi Nakajima vs. Joji Goto at bantamweight; Tatsuya Saika vs. Nurkhan Zhumagazy at lightweight and Sho Patrick Usami vs. Taisei Sakuraba at lightweight. Additionally, Mizuki Mukaiyama will face Nanoka Ito in a kickboxing affair.

Hagiwara, Akimoto Enter Matchup on Two-Bout Winning Streaks

After losing six of seven fights from 2022 to 2024, Hagiwara has rebounded to post back-to-back first-round stoppages of Toby Misech and Taisei Nishitani under the Rizin banner. The 29-year-old owns a 9-10 career mark, with seven triumphs coming via KO or TKO.

The 19-year-old Akimoto has been victorious in nine of 10 professional outings. The Japan Top Team product suffered his first career defeat to Yuki Motoya on New Year’s Eve, but he has since righted the ship with consecutive triumphs against Ryo Takagi and Koki Akada.
