Garry (17-1) faced Belal Muhammad in the co-main event at UFC Qatar on Saturday. Garry outstruck the former welterweight champion to earn a unanimous decision victory. “The Future” proclaimed himself the clear No.1 contender with his victory over Muhammad (24-5).

Garry subsequently called upon Georgian wrestlers to help him prepare for a potential title shot against Makhachev. The Irishman wants southpaw wrestlers who can mimic Makhachev’s style.
‘See You There’
“I will come to Georgia,” Garry said at the post-fight press conference. “Because Georgia has phenomenal wrestling, phenomenal judo, phenomenal sambo. And when you’re trying to prepare for someone like Islam Makhachev, I’m gonna need that. So Georgia, I’m all into you guys. I’m gonna need your help. So every southpaw wrestler, every guy that thinks he is gonna be like Islam Makhachev, we need to find a place, I will see you there. I will call for your help.”
Makhachev (28-1) won the welterweight title with a shutout decision victory over Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 322 last week. The same card also saw the emergence of two new contenders in Carlos Prates and Michael Morales. However, Makhachev would prefer defending his title against former champion Kamaru Usman. Meanwhile, Garry has only lost to undefeated Kazakh contender Shavkat Rakhmonov in eleven UFC outings.
