Injuries Result in Three New Matchups on Combate Americas ‘Tito vs. Alberto’ Main Card

This weekend’s Combate Americas pay-per-view card has undergone some changes due to multiple injuries.

The promotion announced Monday that Joao Camillo will step in for Joby Sanchez and meet Dani Barez in a featured flyweight contest. Sanchez was forced to withdraw from the bout after suffering an injury in sparring.

Meanwhile, Dulce Garcia will now square off against Anali Lopez Hernandez in a 120-pound catchweight affair. Garcia’s original foe, Marisol Ruelas, pulled out of the originally scheduled 118-pound catchweight bout due to a shoulder injury.

Finally, Gaston Reyno has a new foe, as Rey Trujillo will replace Angel Cruz in a 150-pound catchweight scrap also slated for the pay-per-view draw. Like Ruelas, Cruz withdrew from the event due to a shoulder ailment.

Three new preliminary fights were announced for the event: Victor Martinez vs. Luis Luna at lightweight; Elias Urbina vs. Mike Tovar at 190 pounds and Edmilson Freitas vs. Raymond Banda at 175 pounds. Finally, Jose Flores will now face Clarence Brown at lightweight after Flores’ original foe, Ismael Bonfirm, exited the contest due to an undisclosed injury.

Combate Americas “Tito vs. Alberto” takes place at Payne Arena in McAllen, Texas, on Saturday and is headlined by a 210-pound catchweight clash between Tito Ortiz and Alberto Rodriguez. The card airs on pay-per-view via Fite TV for $29.99.
