On Thursday, Paul joined former CNN host Piers Morgan on YouTube show “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” where he battled Morgan for a few minutes before abruptly departing the interview. Paul came on the show to sell his upcoming pay-per-view boxing match with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., with the two throwing down on Saturday. As tensions grew when Morgan shared criticisms offered by names in the boxing world about Paul fighting Mike Tyson, Paul grew more defensive until reaching a breaking point.

Sporting a large sombrero, Paul started off by declaring, “I’m the greatest Mexican fighter of all time.” Things quickly devolved from there.
“He’s a dumbass,” Paul said of his opponent, Chavez Jr. “And so, it’s going to be apparent on Saturday when he’s the one that gets knocked out.” He went on to say that while many fighters say that during their interview, he “genuinely” believes he will put away the 39-year-old who started his career at 130 pounds.
When Morgan brought up Paul’s last opponent, Tyson, age 58, and the comments made by Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Terence Crawford, Paul rolled his eyes and lashed back.
“You guys got all your panties in a wad,” Paul remarked. “All so butthurt. You guys should go see a therapist, all three of you.”
The polarizing figure continued, “It’s entertainment, man. If Mike Tyson wants to fight you, of course you’re going to say ‘yes.’ He walked away with tens of millions of dollars to support his family for the rest of their lives, and we made the biggest fight in history, so…128 million people would disagree with you that it wasn’t something amazing.”
A former cast member of Disney show “Bizaardvark,” Paul boxed the heavyweight legend in November 2024 on a Netflix broadcast, where he won a lackluster decision over Tyson. After the match, Paul even admitted that he pulled his punches, and suggested he did not want to “hurt” Tyson in their match.
In particular, the criticism lobbied by Alvarez appeared to get under Paul’s skin.
“He’s a 5’8 little peon, if we were in the streets I would grab that little ginger and smack him upside the head and make him forget who the f–k he was. People don’t realize I’m a real killer, I really f—ing do this s–t. YouTube this, YouTube that, Disney that…this s–t is not a joke, I’m knocking out the best of the best, beating all of these people time in and time again, and it’s about time that you old heads and all these f—ing boxers who think they know about the sport put some respect on my name,” he replied.
Thus far as a pro boxer, Paul has amassed a record of 11 wins and one defeat, with seven knockouts to his credit. He has faced a number of aging MMA stars, including Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley twice, Anderson Silva, Nate Diaz and Mike Perry. Morgan argued in the interview that while Paul may be a great showman and has made a tremendous amount of money doing what he has done, he has not achieved a modicum of boxing success because he has not beaten any noteworthy boxers. He even suggested that the lone boxer of note that Paul fought thus far was Tommy Fury, who won on the scorecards against the Most Valuable Promotions head.
“I don’t know what you guys want to see,” Paul inquired. “I tried to fight ‘Canelo,’ he ducked out of it. You asked him about that. You said he’s gonna kill me. So, what do you want? You’re laughing when you say, ‘oh, Jake is gonna fight ‘Canelo’, [mock laughter]. I think you would kill him. [mock laughter]’ But then, you’re like, ‘oh, you’re not fighting this guy.’”
He continued, “You’re the problem here, with this whole situation and criticism of my career. I’m trying to fight the best people, and that’s why Chavez is here on Saturday. I want ‘Canelo.’ I want Anthony Joshua. I want all these people. It’s been five years in this sport.”
Returning to the subject of Tyson, Morgan scoffed at Paul claiming this 58-year-old version of “Iron Mike” as a legitimate victory. He went on to say that if it were Tyson in his prime, Paul would have been crushed in seconds.
“The Problem Child” took that comment personally, and went after the host directly.
“And you versus going to the gym, you’re still a fat ass,” Paul fired back, ignoring Morgan’s response that he has been to the gym twice this week thus far. “So, what do you want to talk about, we can make up hypotheticals…you don’t think I can beat Mike Tyson, I don’t think you go to the gym. We can sit here all day.”
Everything came to a head when Morgan, while praising Paul for his YouTube and influencer status, suggested that a “real” boxer will not struggle against Paul. He went so far as to pitch that Chavez Jr., who has fought once since 2022 in a six-round affair over ex-MMA fighter Uriah Hall, could be the one to resoundingly beat Paul.
“I think the problem is here Piers is that you think that your opinion matters,” the boxer proffered. “I’m just taking your audience to sell pay-per-views, I don’t give a f–k about your show, dumbass. This is f—ing business enterprise.”
Paul then briefly pitched that people buy the PPV and signed off. Morgan laughed, finishing by saying “Cheers, Jake. I really enjoyed that, and good luck to Julio. Knock him out for all of us, will you?”
