Jamey-Lyn Horth earned her first UFC finish on Saturday night.
Horth (9-2) opened the UFC Vegas 112 card with a flyweight matchup against Tereza Bleda. Horth battered Bleda (7-2) from the onset and finished her just over two minutes into the fight. Horth was proud to earn her first finish since 2021 and her first ever in the UFC. While Horth started her pro career with five consecutive finishes to earn a UFC contract, the Canadian hadn’t scored any stoppage wins since.

“I’m over the moon,” Horth said in a post-fight interview with the UFC. “It was two firsts for me – getting it done in the time frame and getting a finish. Something I haven’t got to do since I was an early pro. Here I’m going on my sixth fight in the UFC, so I’m really happy to get that showcase and just show that I belong here. And I’m climbing in the works and I’m ready to go… I feel like a blue collar fighter. Don’t have too many fights under my belt, I turned pro after three amateur fights and I’ve been on the run since then.”
Blood in the Water
Even after initially hurting Bleda, Horth heard her corner calling for her to be patient. While Horth isn’t a reckless fighter, she smelled too much blood to not go for the kill.
“I’m hearing my coach and my corner yelling at me, ‘Be patient, don’t rush in,’” Horth said. “I never seem to be that type of fighter, but in the heat of the moment and the excitement, you smell blood in the water, and you want to get the job done. And I think we did a calculated and educational finish.”
