Jessica Eye apologizes, gives reasons for UFC on ESPN 10 weight miss

Jessica Eye is “mind-blown” she missed weight by such a small amount for UFC on ESPN 10.

The one-time UFC flyweight title challenger issued a statement via Instagram after her second consecutive weight miss, attributing the 0.25 pound overage to a lack of body fat, cold and not using the bathroom prior to stepping on the scale.

Eye appeared unsteady on her feet at the Friday morning weigh-in. After clocking in at 126.25 pounds, she declared, “I’m done guys. I don’t think I can stand.”

“It was freezing in the APEX, and I was cold,” she said. “I have no body fat on me right now, especially after the cut. I apologize for the 0.2 pounds. I’m even mind-blown. I should have peed before I got on the scale, so thank you everyone. I can’t wait to perform tomorrow.”

Eye’s miss for a headlining fight with Calvillo was far smaller than for her previous bout, where she was five pounds over the non-title flyweight limit for a bout with Viviane Araujo; she won the fight via unanimous decision to rebound after a knockout loss to champ Valentina Shevchenko.

Eye made no excuses for her previous miss on the scale and said she had a bad weight cut. Calvillo makes her debut in the flyweight division after a series of weight misses at strawweight.
