Jinh Yu Frey to fight for Invicta atomweight title against Minna Grusander at Invicta FC 30

Invicta FC will crown a new atomweight champion this summer.

Jinh Yu Frey will take on Minna Grusander for the vacant Invicta atomweight title at Invicta FC 30 on July 21 in Kansas City, Mo., the promotion announced Friday night during the Invicta 29 broadcast.

Frey (6-3) is coming off a loss to former UFC strawweight Seo Hee Ham last December by first-round TKO at ROAD FC in South Korea. The Texas native beat Ashley Cummins by unanimous decision at Invicta FC 24 in July 2017. Frey, 32, lost in an atomweight title fight to former champ Ayaka Hamasaki in 2016 by doctor stoppage due to a cut.

Grusander (6-1) has won four straight overall. The Finnish fighter, nicknamed “Brutsku,” is coming off a second-round TKO of Fernanda Priscila at Invicta 28 in March. Grusander, 29, has only lost in her career to Syuri Kondo, who is currently in the UFC.

No other fights have been announced yet for Invicta 30. Hamasaki vacated the Invicta atomweight title and is currently competing for Rizin FF.
