A flyweight rematch is on tap for UFC 319 after J.J. Aldrich was forced to pull out of the event.
Karine Silva, Aldrich’s original opponent, will now face Dione Barbosa on the Aug. 16 card. Ag.Fight was first to report the new 125-pound booking. UFC 319 takes place at the United Center in Chicago and is headlined by a middleweight title tilt between Dricus Du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev. Silva and Barbosa initially fought on the regional circuit in 2019, with Barbosa earning a unanimous decision triumph.

Aldrich Vows to Come Back Stronger
“Absolutely gutted to have to post this! In 16 fights in the UFC I have never pulled out,” Aldrich wrote on Instagram. “Last week I got hurt while training and have been holding out hope I could still fight but it’s just not in the plans.
“Apologies to Karine and her team I’m sure we will see each other eventually! … I’m gonna heal up and promise to be back better than ever.”
After earning a contract on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2021, Silva began her Octagon tenure with four consecutive triumphs. That momentum was halted in her last outing, when she dropped a three-round verdict to Viviane Araujo at UFC 309.
Barbosa has been victorious in two of her first three bouts after coming off the Contender Series in 2023. Most recently, “The Witch” scored a first-round submission victory against Diana Belbita at UFC on ESPN 65 on April 5.
