John Moraga Not Beating Down the Door for Another UFC Title Shot

John Moraga should take a nice leap up the UFC flyweight rankings from his No. 10 spot after defeating the No. 6 contender in Wilson Reis at UFC on FOX 29 on Saturday night. Despite the victory – the third of his current streak – Moraga isn’t like other fighters, clamoring for a title shot.
Moraga already fought UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson once for the title. That was nearly five years ago, but despite his recent victorious streak, Moraga was still up-and-down with his fight record during the span since he fought for the belt, and when he does fight for the title again, he wants it to be something more meaningful, especially when it comes to his bank account.
“I’m not worried about getting a (title) shot until I can have my stock built to get paid like I’m getting a shot. I fought Demetrious for $17,000 last time, and I just wanna get… like… he’s a tough fight, you know what I’m saying? He snapped the other ligament in my elbow the first time I fought him,” a rather melancholy Moraga said in his post-fight interview with reporters.
“This is real to me. So I want to build my stock; put me back down to some of these contenders… I just want to get a couple more wins and build my stock.”
