Jorge Masvidal learned a lot about himself as an athlete and fighter when he was furthest away from MMA.
Following a 2017 loss to Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson, Masvidal was without a fight or a willing opponent. So he took another opportunity, joining a reality competition series between athletes and celebrities called “Exatlon Estados Unidos.”
To film the show, Masvidal had to cut himself off from the outside world during production. But in his latest video blog series, “The Diaries of a Street Fighter,” he explains the physical and mental benefits of that time away.
“I had a blast over there,” he said. “It was one of the best experiences of my life.”
Returning home, Masvidal explains how he landed his fight with Darren Till, which resulted in a devastating knockout in the second round. He then followed that up with a jaw-dropping, five-second flying knee knockout that handed Ben Askren the first loss of his professional fighting career.
