Jussier ‘Formiga’ Gets Callout from Sergio Pettis Following UFC 221 Victory

Jussier da Silver is hoping for a title shot following this past weekend’s win over Ben Nguyen, but if that doesn’t happen, he at least has another willing dance partner for a future fight.

Sergio Pettis called out “Formiga” on Instagram on Monday. The younger brother of former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis had a four-fight winning streak snapped in his last outing, as he suffered a unanimous decision loss to Olympic gold medalist Henry Cejudo at UFC 218.

“Congrats Jussier Formiga on your performance this past weekend,” Pettis wrote. “But what’s good lets set this up.”

Da Silva authored one of the most impressive victories at UFC 221 in Perth, Australia, on Saturday when he floored Nguyen with a spinning back fist before locking in a rear-naked choke 1:43 into the third round. The 32-year-old Brazilian, often a gatekeeper at 125 pounds, has won three of his last four in the Octagon and is looking for a crack at reigning champ Demetrious Johnson.

“I feel great and right now, I want to get my belt,” da Silva said. “I have six years in the UFC and I deserve my shot.”
