Kennedy Nzechukwu Wants to Improve After Foul-Marred UFC on ESPN 5 Win

Kennedy Nzechukwu got his first Octagon win at UFC Newark as he beat Darko Stosic by decision.

However, the fight was far from pretty, as Stosic landed three hard groin strikes that resulted in two points being deducted over the course of the bout. Nzechukwu says he has never been hit harder in the groin than the third low blow Stosic landed.

“I was starting to get frustrated with him, but I was just focusing on the fight. On the second groin strike, I started to switch stances so he wouldn’t be able to hit me there,” Nzechukwu said to Sherdog, com. “Then, he hit me again, and I was like, ‘Wow.’ That third one really got me and made me feel nauseous. After the fight it made me tired. I had never been hit that hard in the groin before then.”

In the end, Nzechukwu got the win and would have been victorious even without the pair of point deductions. The Fortis MMA product isn’t satisfied with his performance.

“We checked the scorecard and I would have won even without the two points. I just want to go back to the drawing board and get better. I’m not trying to be a Debbie Downer, but I know I can be better and want to be better. I just had to figure stuff out, and I continue to do that,” he said. “Just be better than myself last time out. It comes with experience, too.”
