Khabib Nurmagomedov’s Older Brother Makes Rare Appearance on Camera

Khabib Nurmagomedov’s elder brother, Magomedov Nurmagomedov, was recently spotted on camera.

While Khabib reached the pinnacle of success and stardom in mixed martial arts, he has always kept his family life private. Very little is known of his older brother Magomed, barring a few rare photos and mentions in the past interviews.

However, Will Harris of Anatomy of a Fighter managed to briefly capture Magomed during a visit to Dagestan. Just as Khabib was introducing his older brother, Magomed politely told Harris, “no camera.”

“This guy is my big brother,” Khabib said. “Real brother. Mother, father same… he don’t like camera.”

Their father, the great Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, has once famously compared his older son to Khabib. Abdulmanap said Khabib was definitely not the most talented amongst all his children and gave that distinction to Magomed. According to Abdulmanap, Magomed bested “The Eagle” at both sports and academics.

“Absolutely [Khabib was] not [the most talented]. My eldest son was much more capable and smarter,” Abdulmanap said. “In studies as well. Khabib knows only three languages, his brother knows six. Khabib did two workouts, his brother did three. At a certain stage he got tired of it. He was engaged in freestyle wrestling.”

According to an unverified report, Magomed reportedly sustained a severe spinal injury at the age of 18. Realizing that Magomed could no longer train intensely, Abdulmanap reportedly shifted focus on Khabib’s career.
