Garry (17-1) beat Belal Muhammad via unanimous decision in a welterweight tilt in the co-main event at UFC Qatar on Saturday. Meanwhile, Chimaev (15-0) was in attendance to support his teammate Arman Tsarukyan, who submitted Dan Hooker in the lightweight main event. Things unexpectedly heated up between Garry and Chimaev when they ran into each other backstage. The middleweight champion was seen shoving Garry, who called it “childish.” Garry walked away after congratulating Tsarukyan.

Explaining his beef with Garry, Chimaev says he didn’t feel respected when the Irishman tapped his back. Chimaev believes Garry just approached them to gain clout. “Borz” believes Garry is a Conor McGregor copycat who will never become like the former UFC double champ.
A Matter of Respect
“Touch respectfully,” Chimaev said at the post-fight press conference. “Don’t punch somebody from behind. He’s tapping my back. If you want to show respect, respectfully touch somebody… He came there to make some hype. You know that guy, trying to be Conor but he’s never gonna be Conor. He’s a s—t fighter.”
Chimaev won the middleweight title with a dominant unanimous decision victory over Dricus Du Plessis this past August.
