King Green admits being humbled by a real boxer

King Green learned a humbling lesson after issuing an open challenge to boxers.

Green recently made headlines by picking apart professional boxer Bang Williams in boxing sparring. Williams trains under former four-division world champion Adrien Broner, who was also in attendance as the veteran UFC fighter trash-talked and repeatedly stung his pupil.

Green subsequently issued an open challenge to all professional boxers. The Ultimate Fighting Championship lightweight soon met his match in WBO interim super lightweight champion Arnold Barboza Jr., who pieced up Green, albeit they ended without any bad blood.

Green then admitted that Barboza showed him what real boxing looks like. While Green went in expecting a slugfest, Barboza kept a solid guard and displayed slick footwork to pick him apart.

“I’m thinking we’re going to do this certain dance,” Green said on his Instagram Stories. “And it doesn’t exactly turn out the way I thought it would. I learned today what real boxing is. In my head, I thought we’d be all guns. But Arnold came out with peekaboo, tight stuff. So, he is not open to no attacks… He showed me real boxing where he came in, gave me no way to work. He would open up, pop, pop, pop, close back up.”

Riding a four-fight winning streak with three finishes in the UFC, Green (36-17) is coming off a first-round buzzer-beater stoppage win over Terrance McKinney.
