KSW Announces Harsh New Penalty for Fighters Who Miss Weight

Polish promotion Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki is going to crack down on athletes who struggle on the scales.

KSW announced on Tuesday that in addition to the usual financial penalty that accompanies missing weight, heavy fighters will also be deducted one point in the opening round of their respective bouts. This new measure will be enforced beginning at KSW 113, which takes place on Dec. 20 at Atlas Arena in Lodz, Poland.

No Exceptions

“KSW would like to announce that starting [at KSW 113], [in addition to] losing a part of his or her salary, each fighter who fails to make the weight limit at the morning weigh-ins on the day before the event shall also lose a point in the first round of the actual fight,” read a statement from the organization on social media. “This penalty will apply to everyone who will not make the required weight limit in their given time, meaning during the morning weigh-ins on Friday and in the additional hour.”

KSW 113 is headlined by a welterweight title tilt between Adrian Bartosinski and Muslim Tulshaev. In the co-main event, Pawel Pawlak will square off against Laid Zerhouni for lightweight gold.
