Larissa Pacheco enjoyed a memorable run in the PFL. | PFL MMA
There seems to be a little more to the story when it comes to Larissa Pacheco’s release from Professional Fighters League.
This past Thursday, the organization announced that it had released the former PFL two-division champion from her contract. Pacheco had not fought since October 2024, when she dropped a five-round verdict to Cristiane Justino at PFL “Battle of the Giants.”

In a statement released on social media, Pacheco revealed that she had been in camp for her next PFL appearance before the bout was canceled. She did not reveal the opponent or the reason for the cancellation.
“I was training, I was already in camp,” Pacheco said (translation/transcription via MMAFighting.com). “I had to end the camp because they canceled the fight that was booked. Anyway, I have the contract, I have many things you’ll soon know. You’ll know my next step soon, but for now I’m working and doing my part. I know it’s in God’s hands, and soon we’ll have something booked, OK?“
Pacheco: ‘I’m Not the One in the Wrong’
Pacheco raised her profile in November 2022, when she upset Kayla Harrison to win the PFL women’s lightweight championship. The Brazilian would go on to win the promotion’s featherweight title in 2023, part of a 10-bout winning streak that included numerous first-round finishes. Pacheco hinted that more information regarding her PFL exit will be revealed in the future.
“There are many news out there,” Pacheco said. “Some things I can say, others I can’t say yet. But I saw one thing I can share, which is about my PFL release. I’m not the one in the wrong. I’ve done my part and delivered fights. They released me for reasons that I’ll talk soon — and it’s not my fault. I’ve done my part, and you have to know that. I’m free — for now, for now.”
Prior to signing with the PFL, the 31-year-old Pacheco fought twice for the UFC from 2014 to 2015, falling to Jessica Andrade and Germaine de Randamie in her only two outings. It’s unclear where Pacheco might land considering the UFC doesn’t currently have women’s divisions beyond 135 pounds and she has fought primarily at featherweight and lightweight in recent years.
