Light Heavyweights Paul Craig, Ryan Spann to Collide at UFC London

A fun light heavyweight matchup between two light heavyweights looking to crack the top 15 is set for the Ultimate Fighting Championship‘s return trip to London this March.

On Thursday, the promotion announced that Paul Craig (12-4-1) will be locking horns with Ryan Spann (17-5) at light heavyweight on the UFC London card. The event will take place at the O2 Arena on March 21, where no bout has yet been scheduled to headline the card.

Craig is coming off of a rare split draw against Mauricio Rua in November, although a wide majority of the media scorers awarded the win to Rua. Going the full 15 minutes with “Shogun,” their encounter was the first for Craig to reach the scorecards in his 17-fight career. Prior to the draw, Craig had alternated wins and losses in his last six outings. “Bearjew” is the first and only fighter in promotional history to have three consecutive bouts end with less than one minute left in each fight.

Fortis MMA top prospect Spann has won his last seven — six by stoppage — dating back to his first appearance on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2017. Finishing six of those seven opponents, including five in the opening round, Spann has yet to taste defeat inside the Octagon. Most recently, he tapped Devin Clark in Round 2 of their bout in October.
