Luis Pena vs. Khama Worthy targeted for June 27 UFC event

An exciting lightweight scrap is headed to Las Vegas later this month.

Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that Luis Pena will face Khama Worthy at the UFC’s event on June 27. The fight card takes place at UFC APEX and is expected to air on ESPN+. MMA Junkie was first to report the booking.

After dropping a controversial split decision to Matt Frevola at UFC Tampa this past October, Pena picked up a dominant decision win over Steve Garcia at UFC Norfolk in February. “Violent Bob Ross,” a competitor on season 27 of The Ultimate Fighter, is 4-2 in his UFC run, which includes finishes of fellow TUF cast mate Richie Smullens and Matt Wiman.

Worthy looks to keep momentum going following a memorable UFC debut this past August. “The Deathstar” delivered one of the upsets of the year with a first-round knockout win over Devonte Smith at UFC 241 in a fight he took on less than one week’s notice. The 33-year-old has won six straight fights heading into his 22nd professional appearance.

The UFC’s June 27 event is slated to be headlined by former interim lightweight champ Dustin Poirier taking on surging contender Dan Hooker.
