Mackenzie Dern Makes UFC Return After Pregnancy, Faces Amanda Ribas on Oct. 12

Mackenzie Dern will make her first Octagon appearance in more than a year when she faces Amanda Ribas at a UFC Fight Night event on Oct. 12.

Multiple outlets have confirmed the booking following an initial report from ESPN.com . Both fighters have verbally agreed to the matchup, which will take place at 115 pounds. The promotion has not yet announced a venue for the ESPN+-streamed event, though it has been rumored for San Francisco.

Dern took a hiatus to become a mother and gave birth to her daughter, Moa, on June 9. The Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt last appeared at UFC 224, where she improved her career mark to 7-0 with a first-round submission of Amanda Bobby Cooper in May 2018. Dern also owns a victory over Ashley Yoder in UFC competition.

Ribas had a successful Octagon debut, submitting Emily Whitmire in the opening stanza at UFC on ESPN 3. The 25-year-old Marcelo Ribas team representative is 7-1 as a pro, with all but one of her victories coming inside the distance.
