Irene Aldana has a new opponent for UFC Mexico City.
Originally scheduled to face bantamweight Marion Reneau on Sept. 21, “Robles” will now battle promotional newcomer Vanessa Melo at the Fight Night show in Mexico, the UFC announced Wednesday following a report by Ag. Fight.
Melo (10-5) signed with the UFC after winning five in a row since Sept. 2018, capped off by a decision win over Jan Finney at Battlefield FC 2 in China. “Miss Simpatia” has yet to be paid by the Asian promotion.
Aldana (10-5) recently had a three-fight winning streak snapped by Raquel Pennington at UFC on ESPN 4. Prior to the setback, the Mexican fighter scored wins over Bethe Correia, Lucie Pudilova and Talita Bernardo.
UFC’s return to Mexico City will feature featherweights Yair Rodriguez and Jeremy Stephens in the main event.
