Marlon Vera takes short-notice fight at UFC 227, faces Wuliji Buren

Marlon Vera will soon be back in action.

The Ecuadorian fighter has taken a short-notice fight at UFC 227, replacing Bharat Kandare to take on China’s Wuliji Buren. UFC 227, headlined by a championship rematch between T.J. Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt, will take place on Aug. 4 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The news was announced by the promotion on Wednesday night and also confirmed by MMA Fighting.

Vera is coming off back-to-back decision losses to Douglas Silva de Andrade and John Lineker. The 25-year-old is currently 4-4 in the UFC and 10-5-1 in his overall professional MMA career. Meanwhile, Buren will be looking to get his first win in the Octagon, as he came up short on his UFC debut, losing a decision to Rolando Dy last November. Buren, 28, is 11-5 as a professional fighter.
