McGregor ends his five-year hiatus from the Ultimate Fighting Championship against Holloway, 13 years after their first meeting. They squared off on Aug. 17, 2013, at UFC Fight Night 26 in Boston, where the Irishman emerged victorious via decision. Holloway has now addressed two key aspects of his preparation that he believes will boost his performance at UFC 329.

Max Holloway training changes for Conor McGregor UFC 329 rematch
In an interview with ESPN MMA, Holloway discussed how his training camp went. With his upcoming bout being contested at welterweight, “Blessed” made sure to leave no stone unturned in preparation. He even roped in former 170-pound champion Jack Della Maddalena for assistance.
“I think it’s going to be a fun fight, man. I think it’d be great. I mean, I don’t know if you guys saw on or if you’ve been keeping up with the YouTube, but we had JDM out for two weeks,” Holloway said. “Former champion, champion-caliber fighter. It was amazing having him in the camp. True 170-pounder, you know… It’s just it’s going to be a fun fight, man. I can’t wait.”
Holloway used to cut a lot of weight while competing at featherweight and was infamously pulled from his lightweight fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2018. Not having to fret over the weight cut this time around has allowed the Hawaiian to fully focus on performance.
“You know, I always talked about how 145 camps are, you know, especially five weeks are irritating; 155 camps are great; 170 fight week camp is amazing. So, I can’t wait. You know, we’re getting ready for just performance out there. All this week, all this training, everything is just performance, performance, performance.”
